Imagine
Anika McPherson — 6th Grade
The warm breeze runs its fingers through the tall grass,
Sunlight turns the pond surface to glass,
The trees stand proud with bright leaves,
This is the meadow that haunts my dreams.
I wish I never have to leave,
My beautiful world of flowers and trees.
I love leaving my worries behind,
And entering a place inside my mind.
Some days I don’t have to escape,
Some days just aren’t that great.
Life is full of days that are down,
All you need is an imagination to get around.
Some have their journals, some hide in nooks.
Some try to bury their feelings in books.
I have my meadow, my paradise,
Which I escape to when the time is right.
I love the field of grass,
I love the pond of glass,
I love no worries, all left behind,
I love this place inside my mind.

A Girl Who …
Bailee M. Willson — 6th Grade
The cool water that rushed down my throat and the sun that pounded on my back, made me feel peaceful.
The hooves that bounced on and off the pavement and the bumpy ride that was high in the air, made me think about how wonderful life can be.
The trees swaying in the wind and the sight of small children laughing, made me feel like he wind and leaves would pick me up and drag me across the sky to see the beautiful world as it should be.
The rush of air through my blonde hair as I leave fast footprints in the forests ground, made me feel more awake than ever.
Everything that will make me smile today, tomorrow and the next day, will make me who I am: A girl who always wants a thrill and believes the lord will give that to her. A girl who isn’t perfect, but knows that perfect is boring. A girl who knows right from wrong, who knows how to follow her dreams, and make others come true.

Jealousy
Elysia Richie — 6th Grade
It’s a stupid word
That should not be heard
No one likes it
It’s a fire to be lit
It’s a word that rumbles through your mind
It’s not sweet, nor is it kind
It’s ungrateful and it’s sad,
And it makes you really mad
I hate being jealous-I really do
Especially when it comes between me and you
It’s not funny and it’s not great
Being jealous is something I hate
I love you, ok, I really do,
But when she’s here it’s something new
You think it’s funny? You really do?
Laugh when it happens to Y-O-U
This poem is not just for you
It’s for my sadness and me too.

Orange’s Brother
Erin deCastongrene — 5th Grade
Sunlight filtering through a window screen,
An egg yolk as broken as a long lost dream.
A juicy, tart lemon making a citrusy scent,
A bird soaring through the sky, its wings slightly bent.
It’s bright and bold yet soft and mellow,
All of this is just beautiful yellow.
Yellow lightning will never bother you,
While you have yellow and yellow has you too.
Orange’s brother and green’s cousin,
The sound of autumn leaves crunching.
Yellow is two light, flowing butterfly wings,
Yellow is a baby bird beginning to sing.
It’s the color of stripes on a
bumblebee’s back,
And a fresh, crunchy bell pepper, the perfect snack.
I can feel the soft, yellow rose petals between my fingers,
They drop from my hand, but the sweet scent still lingers.
I reach for a glass of lemonade,
The cool taste bringing a smile
to my face.
It’s bright and bold yet soft and mellow,
All of this is just beautiful yellow.

IMAGINE
Kyla Rose Parkin — 4th Grade
I imagine that the bright blue ocean
can be the sky
and the sky can be the ocean
I imagine that plants sprout in you
then you sprout
I imagine the plants sway and
make the ocean ripple with pride
I imagine when the leaves sway you can hear the soft whisper
It sounds like there’s someone saying “come and sway with me”
I imagine you’re at the shoreline and you see the waves crashing
It sounds like a thunder storm and
It makes you feel happy and sad at the same time.
I imagine.
