Coats for Kids is a program through Classic Vapor Cleaners where coats are collected, dry cleaned and then distributed in our County. This year the coats will be distributed to foster children in Santa Cruz County, families from Walnut Avenue Women’s Center, and migrant farm families.
Having a new winter coat can mean more than just staying warm. It can be a realization that someone cares and Classic Vapor Cleaners owner Pamela Whittington was just such a kid. This is her sixth holiday season of collecting serviceable used coats and jackets for needy children. Such a gift can help to give the child confidence and pride according to Whittington.
Whittington has been collecting coats at her three dry cleaners located in Santa Cruz, Capitola and Aptos since October. The last day to drop off a coat for donation is Dec. 14.
Every October, November and December Classic Vapor collects, cleans and distributes thousands of coats free of charge that are donated. Approximately 10,000 coats were collected for donation last year and were given to children in need throughout the Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties.

Aptos: 415 Trout Gulch Rd., Aptos, CA 831-688-5011
